Veo 2 vs. Veo 3
I wanted to test out the difference between Veo 2 and 3, while also using ChatGPT.
Photo to Cartoon with ChatGPT
First, I inserted an image into ChatGPT of a McDonalds resturant, and asked it to turn the photo into an animated cartoonish image. The result was really good, so I took it one step further, and asked the AI to insert two small monsters, one red and one blue, into the restaurant. Here was the before and after. From a previous video that I had made, I noticed that ChatGPT did a great job of turning photos into cartoons, so I used it. These following images show the original and modified photo.
Cartoon to Animation
Using this image, I inserted it into the prompt space. To make sure that other factors were identical and consistant so I would only be testing the AI, I used the same image, prompt, mode of Veo, which was fast mode, and only used the first try per each experiment. I used Chat GPT to help me write my prompts. My prompt was:
This scene is a funny animated scene of two colorful cartoon monsters sitting in a fast food restaurant. The red monster with horns is happily eating a big hamburger, while the fluffy blue monster sips a milkshake with a straw. The background shows bright windows, modern hanging lights, and a cheerful restaurant interior with posters and menu signs.
This was the Veo 2 result.
This was the Veo 3 result.
I decided to try another type of video and also compare. My prompt was:
A real-life tabby cat with soft, striped fur sits on a sunlit rug in a cozy living room. Golden morning light filters through sheer curtains, casting soft shadows across the wooden floor. The cat gazes out the window, quietly watching colorful birds flutter around a feeder. Its ears twitch slightly, and the room feels calm and warm, with natural lighting and a peaceful atmosphere.
This was the Veo 2 result.
This was the Veo 3 result.
This table compares Veo 2 and 3 using different elements like the length of a video produced or the price it costs to make one.
TOPIC | Veo 2 | Veo 3 |
---|---|---|
Audio | Veo 2 doesnโt support audio. | Veo 3 supports audio and is still in the testing phase. |
Price | Veo 2 costs about 15 credits for the fast mode, and 100 to 150 credits for the quality mode. | Veo 3 costs about 20 credits for the fast mode, and about 150 credits for the quality mode. |
Purpose | Veo 2 is made for experimenting, but not the final product, so there is less detail. | Veo 3 is made for storytelling, so has better cinematic visuals like light and depth. |
Length of Video | Veo 2 videos can go up to 4 seconds. | Veo 3 videos can go up to 8 seconds. |
Overall, Veo 3 is better than Veo 2 because it has audio, better cinematic visuals, longer video production, and is better at understanding complicated prompts. Although Veo 2 is cheaper, it lacks some visual detail and doesn't produce high quality contenet. As a result, Veo 3 is the more reliable option.
